Bi-Annual Dental Hygiene Tips

brush your teeth twice a day - dental hygiene tips

We previously discussed how hay fever can affect your teeth, and today, we would like to bring attention to recommended bi-annual checkups.

June is here, and half of the year has gone by already. This means you should book your bi-annual dental check-up f you haven’t done so yet. Having a dental hygiene check-up at least every 6 months is vital to ensure your teeth are in great shape!

Once you’ve been seen by one of our highly qualified dentists in one of our practices, you will need to follow a dental hygiene regimen to ensure your teeth remain healthy and beautiful. To help you, we have compiled our 5 top dental hygiene tips.

1.Brush your teeth at least twice a day

Brush your teeth for at least two minutes, using fluoride toothpaste, and don’t forget to brush your tongue, too!

2. Floss Daily

Don’t forget flossing, it’s one of the most important parts of your dental hygiene! Flossing will help you remove stuck food particles as well as avoid cavities.

3. Get a New Toothbrush Every Two Months

We recommend you get a new toothbrush every two months, as an old one won’t be as effective against bacteria. Additionally, change your toothbrush after you’ve been sick.

4. Rinse Your Mouth After Drinking Coffee or Wine

Coloured drinks such as coffee and wine can stain your teeth permanently, and so it’s essential to rinse after consuming them.

5. Avoid Sugary Food and Smoking

Smoking and consuming high quantities of sugary foods are some of the worst things you can do for your dental health. If possible, avoid these, and always brush your teeth after smoking or eating/drinking sugary foods and beverages.
