Do I Need to Change Toothbrush?

change toothbrush

Our Blue Water Dentists are dedicated to providing you with the best standard of dental care, and this starts with dental care at home. In our last post, we gave you tips on how to improve your dental hygiene, and today, we will help you determine when it’s time to change toothbrush. Your toothbrush helps you maintain perfect oral hygiene, helping you get rid of bacteria and food debris. After some time, your toothbrush risks becoming a breeding ground for bacteria, and so it’s essential you change it regularly.

1.   Bristles

The bristles of your toothbrush take a beating every time you brush your teeth, and if they appear bent down or cooked, it may be a sign your toothbrush is not as effective as it used to be, and that means it needs to be changed.

2. Debris on the bottom of your toothbrush

If when inspecting your toothbrush, you can see visible debris at the bottom of it, and you cannot manage to clean it, you should stop using it right away. A dirty toothbrush will do much more harm than good, and could even expose you to dental infections

3. Sickness

If you have been sick, then you should definitely change toothbrushes. Using your old toothbrush puts you at risk of infecting yourself over and over again, causing you to become sick again.

4. You can’t remember when you last changed your toothbrush

If you can’t remember when you last changed your toothbrush, then it’s definitely time to get a new one! Good dental hygiene is essential to your overall health, so you should not let anything down to chance.
